Payroll outsourcing companies are a huge help to small business and really any business for that matter that does not have the time or the resources to manage their companies payroll or human resource needs. And there are a lot of benefits that you will find from picking the right payroll company.
What you do not want to do though is pick the wrong source and have to deal with the head ache of switching payroll outsourcing companies and having to learn a whole new software program.
What I have done here is written a review onĀ the companies that really stand out as the best and what you can expect by choosing there services. I have been working in this industry for about 3 years now and I have seen the good, the bad and I have also seen the ugly. Click the about tab to learn more about me.
Check out the reviews below and you will find what I believe to be the best choice.
PAYCHEX
Paychex is one of the most well know payroll outsourcing companies in the country. This company was started by Billionaire Tom Golisano in 1971. The services that they offer and very affordable for business and include, Payroll Services, Tax Services, 401K, Human Resource Management, Time And Labor Solutions, Health Care are so much more. This company has been around for a very long time and so far they have no debt! That says a lot about a company and shows that they are able to keep there customers happy and increase there bottom line year after year.
Good Points
Paychex is very customer service oriented. With them the main goal is client experience and meeting and exceeding the client expectations. They have a great line of products that you can choose from and they are steadily improving on the main products that they sell.
One example would be there new Paychex One Source Solution which allows you to access all of your online products using one convenient website and secure login. They are very strong in the online payroll arena. There are several online products from Time and Labor Online all the way to Human Resources Online and Preview Payroll. These products work hand and hand with each other and they can share data so that you only have to enter in employee data once and it will show up in all three products simultaneously.
And as I said before, the Paychex customer service is top notch. They have reps that are there for you when you need them and they take ownership and work with you when ever you have a question or a problem. This company is a very stable and great company to outsource your payroll to.
Bad Points
For the most part I really don’t like that the products are separate. If I could have it my way I would want everything in one software program that I can access everything from. From what I hear they are working towards something like that but I can’t give any definite dates. The One Source Solution actually kind of solves this problem by allowing you to access the online products from one location online but I would still like to see something that has everything in one software program.
Conclusion
Overall this is a really solid company and has had a very good track record through the years. They have top notch customer service and they put the client first. You will not go wrong with choosing Paychex as your payroll outsourcing company. I give them 4 starts out of 5.
ADP
ADP is one of the largest outsourcing payroll companies aswell. ADP stands for Automatic Data Processing and was founded in 1949 by a Patterson, New Jersey businessman named, Henry Taub under the name of Automatic Payrolls, Inc. The have been in business for quite some time and they are one of the big players in the industry.
Good Points
ADP is one of the first automated payroll companies so they are good when it comes to automating the payroll process. They have several products that you can choose from like Payroll Services, Mobil Payroll, Online Payroll and more.
The best thing about ADP I think is that they have been in business for a very long time and they have a great process in place. They provide great products that will help you streamline your payroll.
Bad Points
I have seen and heard good things and bad things about ADP. The only thing that would keep me from choosing them is that there customer service is not as good as Paychex customers service. They do have exceptional products but after you purchase a product you also want exceptional support and customer service.
The main complaint that I have heard from there former clients were that they either had to speak to a different person for every product that they had or they had a hard time getting to speak to someone about the issue they had. They also still have some old technology in place with their time clocks.
They use analog modem lines for some of there clocks to communicate with the payroll software instead of ethernet. The problem with that is that you will have to install a new analog phone line into your office if you don’t already have a fax line that you can use. I see that as being another added expense that I would not want to worry about.
Conclusion
ADP is a very solid company with exceptional products but if you rely on a lot of on going support and customer service you may not get the best of the best but you will be able to get your questions and concerns addressed. I give them 2 and a half stars out of 5 for that reason.
Final Thoughts
So you may be wondering why I only did a review for 2 companies. Well it’s because these are the two industry leaders. I did not want to waste your time with reviewing companies that do not have a proven track record with exceptional products and great service. These two companies can live up to these expectations.
I clearly think that Paychex would be a better choice than ADP based on my research and customer feed back. They both provide the same type of products so I will leave it up to you to decide but I prefer a service that I know will provide the best client experience after I purchase. Paychex seems to lean toward that a little more than ADP.
I hope this helps you in your decision making process. I know this is a very important choice to make and I hope that I provided enough information for you to select the best solution for your business.
